Late Add/Drop Instructions

The add/drop deadline for full term classes is the last day of the third week. If you missed this deadline, please follow the instructions on this webpage to submit a late add/drop request: Add/Drop Instructions 


If you need to drop down to 0 credits and withdraw from the term, our office will need to submit a term withdrawal for you. Please send us an email at umsi.registrar@umich.edu to request a term withdrawal. 


All change requests through the add/drop process or via email to umsi.registrar@umich.edu must be submitted by 11:59pm on the last day of classes.

MADS Students

You can drop courses in Wolverine Access up to one week after each session begins without incurring monetary penalties or a “W” (indicating withdrawal) on your transcript. The drop/add deadlines for each MADS session are posted on this webpage: MADS Calendars 


After the drop/add deadline, you may request a late drop in Wolverine Access through this link: Add/Drop InstructionsBefore late dropping any classes, we highly encourage you to speak with a MADS academic advisor (umsi.advising.mads@umich.edu) as you may be eligible to take an “Incomplete” for the course and complete it in another term. The advising team can also help you adjust your academic plan as needed based on the courses you are adding/dropping. 


If you need to drop down to 0 credits and withdraw from the term, our office will need to submit a term withdrawal for you. Please send us an email at umsi.registrar@umich.edu to request a term withdrawal. If you will be registering for courses in a later session of the same term, we recommend you register for them and drop your current courses rather than submit a term withdraw; once you are withdrawn from the term you will be unable to register for other courses. 


Adding classes after the drop/add deadline requires an online late add request in Wolverine Access. The instructor should also email umsi.registrar@umich.edu to request that a seat be opened for you..


IMPORTANT NOTES: 

  • A “W” (indicating withdrawal) is posted for courses dropped after the drop/add deadline, regardless of the reason for the drop. The deadline to submit your request for a late drop (withdrawal) is 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the last day of the current MADS session.

  • Session 4 late drops: After the last day of the residential term, the late drop option closes in Wolverine Access. You can request your late drop by emailing umsi.registrar@umich.edu up until 11:59pm on the last day of session 4. 

When dropping a course, you will also need to drop any courses that list it as a prerequisite, unless given explicit permission from the instructor and your advising team.
